Farewell Richard & Eva.

Hello at long last, sorry for the delay in updating the web-site, as you know Rev. Richard Martin and his wife Eva are now enjoying ‘retired’ life in that lovely part of the country, Devon.

We here in Maybole wish them all the very best as they settle into a new routine, away from the constant day to day preparation and effort that is needed pastoring a church.

We are sure they will be very happy and God will bless them in their new life in sunny Devon and we know that God will continue to use them there, as He used them to great effect here in Maybole.

There’s are a few verses from Romans (12 v9ff) in Scripture which to me sums up what Richard & Eva would strive for in their Christian lives;

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honour one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your Spiritual fervour, serving the Lord. Be faithful in prayer. Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Richard & Eva brought much to Maybole in their time here and we thank God that they were brought to Maybole as we were richly blessed by their ministry.

Rev. Tom McVicar

We will now be welcoming a new minister to Maybole on 27th March (Easter Sunday). Rev. Tom McVicar will be beginning his ministry here then and we pray that the Lord will bless him and his wife Elaine in their time here.

Tom has ministered in Lancaster, Aberdeen and Tenerife, which is quite a mixture. We are looking forward to this new time in Maybole and pray that we as a fellowship will receive God’s blessing as we continue our witness in this town.

The 40 Days of Purpose

The church here in Maybole has now entered what is called the 40 Days of Purpose; this is basically a period of 40 days when we, as a church, undertake to do things in a different way.

Through a book called The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, Everyone in the fellowship reads a chapter a day on the five purposes God has for us.

(1)                  Worship: Planned for God’s pleasure, (2) Fellowship: Formed for God’s Family, (3) Discipleship: Created to become like Christ, (4) Ministry: Shaped for serving God, (5) Evangelism: Made for a Mission.

Each Sunday the services are also geared to the subject we have been reading about that particular week.

There are also small group meetings each week in members homes, again dealing with the particular ‘purpose’ for that week, so it focuses on everything we have been reading and leads to much discussion in the groups.

We are praying for blessing in this venture that we might see people come to know Christ

We are very excited at this 40Days, which climaxes on Easter Sunday (Celebration Sunday) with rejoicing that our Saviour died on a cross for our sins, and rose on the third day defeating death, evil and the grave, Hallelujah.

We pray that the 40 Days will be an encouragement to our fellowship, as it would be to others, during the 40 Days we pray that others would come and hear about the Lord Jesus Christ and what He does in our lives and the joy that we have in Him.

“My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ”. Colossians 2:2.
