“No to Congestion – Yes to Bypass” -
The “When?” Campaign for a Start
Date for Maybole Bypass
Maybole Community
Council is holding an event on Saturday
March 26th from 10.00 am to
12.00 noon, in Maybole Town Hall, to
support the long-running campaign to
secure a date on which work will start
on a much needed Bypass for Maybole. The
event is open to everyone in the
community and Community Council members
are asked to come along if they possibly
can and to help to publicise the event
as widely as possible in the community
by informing friends, family, colleagues
etc.
Prospective
candidates for the Scottish Parliament
elections in May are being invited and
it is hoped that they will be able to
attend to gain first hand experience of
the detrimental impact that the
continued delay in providing a bypass is
having on the town and its people. Local
councillors and other interested parties
are also being invited.
As part of the
continuing campaign for a bypass, the
Community Council organised a
competition in which local school
children were invited to design a slogan
which will be used on publicity
materials. The winning entry “No to
Congestion, Yes to By-Pass” was produced
by Rory Galloway, a primary 7 pupil at
Gardenrose Primary School, and Rory will
be presented with his prize, an i-pod
nano, at 11.00am. Rory’s slogan already
features on car stickers which will be
available at the event.
Tea and coffee will
be available and there will also be a
display of materials which have been
used to highlight the need for a bypass.
