Maybole Historical Society final minutes None of the existing Committee Members,..., will bestanding for re-election. An invitation for other members to put their names forward for election to the committee did not produce any positive response. It was therefore with great sadness that MHS members present were asked to vote on the proposal that the Society should be wound up. The result was – 7 for: 2 against; and 1 abstention. This outcome resulted in the winding up of the Society. There then followed a discussion about the possibility of the Society being restarted in the future and suggestions were made about how this may happen ... (1) by making more use of Social Media: and (2) by joining up with history groups insurrounding villages to create a Carrick History Society.

Maybole Historical Society has commissioned a feasibility study into the establishment of a sign-posted Pilgrims’ Trail through Ayrshire from Largs and Kilbirnie in the north part of the county to the border of Galloway (heading for Whithorn) via communities such as West Kilbride, Kilwinning, Dundonald, Prestwick, Minishant, Maybole, Kirkoswald, Turnberry, Girvan, Pinmore, Pinwherry, Barhill, Colmonell and Ballantrae. more
