P7 visit

On 12th June P7s from various primary schools visited Carrick Academy for 4 days Pupils that were interviewed said they felt welcome at the school and they enjoyed having more than one teacher a day. Many pupils also commented on the size of Carrick Academy and how they enjoyed the various options for lunch.

 

 

 

Royal Highland Show trip

 

On Thursday 21st there is a bus going up to the Royal highland show in Ingilston. It is sure to be great day and it will cost £10 per person. The bus will leave Carrick at 8:30am and it will leave the show ground at 4pm. There are only limited places so could anyone who is interested, go and speak to Mrs Bryden or Mrs Baird immediately.

 

S6 Induction Day

 

On Monday 4th June new S6 were treated to a very special induction day with the army. They were first introduced to the job of the army by one of the local sergeants. After this they then went out side to take part in some team building tasks, such as blind folded beat the goalie, sheep in a pen (1 person in a team had to direct the rest of their team to a pen but the rest of the team were blind folded and they could only use a whistle to communicate) and many other games. The day ended with a team challenge assault course with the overall winners being Group 2 so well done to them. Even though the weather was not great every one had a brilliant day and a big thank you must go to the Army for a great day.

 

Prize Giving

 

 

The prize giving will be held in the town hall on Tuesday 26th June at 7pm. All pupils who have received more then 3 excellence awards should attend and these people will be informed during registration. For other pupils who have received less then 3 awards where will be a separate ceremony on Monday 25th June between 9-10 am in the assembly room. Well done to every one who has received awards.

 

Get Your Exam Results Online A Day Earlier

 

 

Results Online is SQA's great new service that allows candidates to view their SQA record in a secure environment over the internet. This means that exam results can be viewed online before the printed versions arrive in the post. A text messaging service is also available through Results Online. You will need to hurry tho since the closing date for registration for the reults is on Saturday 30th June. If you wish for any more information then go to the SQA website at www.sqa.org.uk.

The new Carrick TV group has all ready started working on there latest broadcast for the school televisions. The new group is:

Master Chef

 On Tuesday 5th June, two 4th year pupils from Carrick Academy took part in the master chefs challenge at Ayr College. The competition was for schools in Lanarkshire and Ayrshire. Representing Carrick Academy were Jodie McCoy 4Y1 and Isla McCubbin 4B1 who won the competition by preparing a two course meal for two people their meal consisted of ham and spinach stuffed pork, vegetable stir fry and chive mash and for desert it was choue towers with butterscotch and chocolate sauce. The two pupils were up against four other teams The pupils won £30 vouchers and a set of sebatier knifes each and the competition trophy.

The forms for the education maintenance allowance for the 2007 session are available from the office. Could anyone in 5th or 6th year please go and collect a from if they need one.

 

Enterprising Maths Problem Of The Week
