Erected by the family in memory of their father JOHN HARBIESON who died at Dunure 4th August 1878 aged  51.  Also their mother ELIZABETH MELVILLE HALDANE who died at Dunure 11th August 1880 aged 51.  "In blessed hope waiting for the coming of our Lord  Jesus Christ". - mason : J. Douglas;

FAMILY HISTORY

FIRST GENERATION

1.  William HARBISON was born about 1804 in Coylton, Ayrshire.   He was a Gardener.

He was married to Agnes (Mc)BLANE on November 25, 1826 in Ayr, Ayrshire. 1  Agnes (Mc)BLANE died before 1873.   William HARBISON and Agnes (Mc)BLANE had the following children: 

            +2                      i.    John HARBISON (born on July 27, 1827).

              3                     ii.    George Blane HARBISON was baptized on May 16, 1834 in Parish of Dailly, Ayrshire. 2

              4                    iii.    Mary Sloan HARBISON  was born on July 14, 1837 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire.3

              5                   iv.    Jane HARBISON was born on December 31, 1838 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. 4

He was married to Mary PURVIS on November 21, 1873 in Parish of Dreghorn, Ayrshire.  Mary PURVIS was born about 1831 in Kelso, Roxburghshire.

SECOND GENERATION

2.   John HARBISON (William-1) was born on July 27, 1827 in Parish of Dailly, Ayrshire. 5  He died on August 24, 1878 in Dunure, Maybole.6  He was a Fiisherman/Master Grocer.  He was buried in

Kirkbride Churchyard #43.   Monumental Inscription at Kirkbride Churchyard - Erected by the family in

memory of their father JOHN HARBIESON who died at Dunure 4th August 1878 aged

 51.  Also their mother ELIZABETH MELVILLE HALDANE who died at Dunure 11th

He was married to Elizabeth Melville HALDANE (daughter of William HALDANE and Ursula GALBRAITH) on August 19, 1849 in Parish of Maybole, Ayrshire. 7  Elizabeth Melville HALDANE was baptized on March 11, 1829 in Parish of Colmonell, Ayrshire. 8  She died on August 11, 1880 in Dunure, Maybole.9  She was buried in Kirkbride Churchyard #43.  John HARBISON and Elizabeth Melville HALDANE had the following children:

            +6                      i.    William HARBISON (born on October 31, 1850).

              7                     ii.    Agnes HARBISON was born on October 10, 1852 in Parish of Maybole, Ayrshire. 10

              8                    iii.    Thomas HARBISON was baptized on October 8, 1854 in Parish of Maybole, Ayrshire.11 

              9                    iv.    James Haldane HARBISON was born on February 5, 1858 in Parish of Maybole, Ayrshire.

            10                     v.    Elizabeth HARBISON was born on September 16, 1866 in Parish of Maybole, Ayrshire.

THIRD GENERATION

6.   William HARBISON (John-2, William-1) was born on October 31, 1850 in Parish of Maybole, Ayrshire. 12  He was a Fisherman.

He was married to Janet GIBSON on September 20, 1871 in Parish of Maybole, Ayrshire.  Janet GIBSON was born about 1852 in Dunure, Parish of Maybole, Ayrshire.   William HARBISON and Janet GIBSON had the following children: 

            11                      i.    John HARBISON  was born on February 15, 1872 in Parish of Maybole, Ayrshire.

            12                     ii.    Elizabeth Melville Haldane HERBISON was born on May 10, 1874 in Parish of Maybole, Ayrshire.

            13                    iii.    Janet HARBISON was born about 1876 in Dunure, Parish of Maybole, Ayrshire.

          +14                    iv.    Helen HARBISON (born about 1884).

FOURTH GENERATION

14.   Helen HARBISON (William-3, John-2, William-1) was born about 1884.   She was a Domestic Servant.

She was married to William HAY (son of Robert HAY and Margaret EDGAR) on April 29, 1910 in The Hall, Dunure, Maybole, Ayrshire. 13  William HAY was born about 1877.   He died on October 31, 1919.  He was a Fisherman.  He was buried in

Kirkbride Churchyard #51.   Monumental Inscription at Kirkbride Churchyard - Erected by HELEN HERBISON in

 memory of her husband WILLIAM HAY who died [3]1 October 1919 aged [43]
