He was married to Janet CUNNINGHAM (daughter of James CUNNINGHAM and Arthur SMITH) on June 29, 1823 in Parish of Maybole, Ayrshire.1 Janet CUNNINGHAM was born about 1798. She died on July 11, 1873 in Main Street, Newton, Ayr. 2 She was a Farmer of 100 acres. She was buried in Kirkbride Churchyatd #20. James McHUTCHEON and Janet CUNNINGHAM had the following children:
