Erected by WILLIAM and JANE SLOSS in loving memory of their children JAMES who  died at Dunduff 17 July 1888 aged 12. And MATTHEW who died 25 May 1889 aged 4  1/2. Also the above WILLIAM SLOSS died at Thirdmailing, West Kilbride 30 May  1900 aged 48. And his wife JANE SLOSS who died at Saltcoats 11 Mar 1933 aged  82.

FIRST GENERATION

1.  Robert SLOSS died before 1872.   He was a Soldier.  He has reference number Reputed Father.

Helen SPIERS was a Domestic Servant.   Robert SLOSS and Helen SPIERS had the following children:

            +2              i.    William SLOSS (born about 1852).

SECOND GENERATION

2.  William SLOSS (Robert-1) was born about 1852 in Parish of Kirkoswald, Ayrshire.   He died on May 30, 1900 in Thirdmailing, West Kilbride, Ayrshire.  He was a Ploughman.  He was buried in Kirkbride Churchyard #14.  He has reference number Illegitimate.  Monumental Inscription at Kirkbride Churchyard -

He was married to Jane McCUTCHEN (daughter of John McCUTCHEN and Jane HARVEY) on May 31, 1872 in Dailly, Ayrshire.1  Jane McCUTCHEN was born about 1850 in Parish of Dailly, Ayrshire.  She died on March 11, 1933 in Saltcoats, Ayrshire.  She was a Domestic Servant.   She was buried in Kirkbride Churchyard #14.  She has reference number Illegitimate.   William SLOSS and Jane McCUTCHEN had the following children:

              3              i.    Helen (Ellen) SLOSS was born on May 3, 1873 in Parish of Kirkoswald, Ayrshire.

              4             ii.    James SLOSS was born about 1876 in Parish of Kirkoswald, Ayrshire.   He died on July 7, 1888 in Dunduff, Maybole, Ayrshire.  He was buried in Kirkbride Churchyard #14.

              5            iii.    William SLOSS was born about 1877 in Parish of Maybole, Ayrshire.

              6           iv.    Jane SLOSS was born about 1880 in Parish of Kirkoswald, Ayrshire.

              7            v.    Matthew Halbert SLOSS was born about 1885.   He died on May 25, 1889.  He was buried in Kirkbride Churchyard #14.
