To her memory this stone is placed by her surviving children the gratitude due from whom to so dear and excellent a parent and the remembrance of her Christian virtues could not be expressed by the most costly monument.

Sacred to the memory of Rev. JAS. WRIGHT D.D. Minister of this Parish died 21 Jun 1812 in the 73rd year of his age and 42nd of his Ministry whose genuine piety, unbounded charity, benevolence and urbanity gained him the love of his flock; in learning he excelled; in the pulpit he was eloquent yet simple and persuasive and his memory was so tenacious it may be said that he was always a living Concordance of Scripture while to much Christian simplicity he added a natural dignity of character truly becoming to his Sacred office. [Reverse] This monument was erected by a few surviving friends and admirers as a token to posterity of their grateful recollection of his many virtues whose memory it perpetuates. MDCCCXXXV

Sacred to the memory of JOHN McCOSH Preacher of the Gospel died at Maybole 3 May 1844 aged XXXIX years. He was assistant at Abernyte where his usefulness was appreciated throughout a wide district and when the Disruption took place he was one of that noble protesting band of preachers who adhered to the Free Church of Scotland. Recently to his death two congregations called him to be their Minister but pleased the great Head to call him to the company of the most perfect and to the Church of the First Born.
