Irene shared beauty with flowers
And Rachel was soft as the lamb
Wee Davy was tough in his powers
But the gentlest lad, was Big Tam.

Robert lived close by the Souter
And Jenny stayed nearer the dam
Alex had ways with the coulter
But the salt o' the earth, was Tam.

Nan was aye fresh as the daisy
While Violet was tight as a clam
And Billy his mind often hazy
Worlds different were he and Big Tam.

Lillian's lot was the farmer
As for Jack he was cool and calm
Sheila was truly a charmer
With little effect on Big Tam.

Rita rejected intrusions
And Anne aye would study and cram
Drew was a lad of illusions
The settling force, was still Tam.

Betty was proud as a peacock
And Donald delighted in sham,
David was solid as bed-rock
Yet the watch on the night, was Tam.

Jean was true without blemish
And Alice the queen of Siam,
George was aye keen to accomplish
But rooted in earth, was Big Tam.

So here's tae ye lads and lassies
May you never want for a dram,
And mind a' the different classes;
We're still a' God's children, Big Tam.
